Repecki Park in Tarnowskie Góry

Between Repty and Stare Tarnowice, in the northern part of Tarnowskie Góry, stretches Repecki Park — the former grounds of the neorenaissance residence of the Henckel von Donnersmarck family, for whom these lands were a hunting retreat. The park was founded in the 19th century, and today, together with the valley of the Drama river, it forms the Park in Repty and the Drama Valley nature and landscape complex.

Monuments of engineering

The park's greatest fame comes from the Black Trout Adit — a 600-metre section of the Deep Fryda Adit, which drained a mine founded in 1784. The underground route is travelled by boat; it is the oldest crossing of this kind in Poland, inscribed on the UNESCO list together with the stone Gwarków Gate of 1834. The gate once closed the adit's outlet and is now one of the town's calling cards.

The Drama valley and the graduation tower

Here the Drama river cuts about 20 metres into the terrain, and the steep slopes are covered with a beech forest. In 2024, at Śniadeckiego Street, the Gwarków brine graduation tower was launched — over 6 metres high and about 20 long — with a playground and outdoor gym beside it. Walkers will come across a concert shell with a mural featuring portraits of, among others, Donnersmarck and Wisława Szymborska. The park is open around the clock all year, entry is free of charge, and part of the paths is asphalted, so the route can be covered with a stroller.
