Parish Church in Łańcut

The Parish Church in Łańcut, dedicated to St Stanislaus the Bishop, is an active parish church with medieval origins. The present building combines a 15th-century nave with later side aisles and a chancel and transept added at the turn of the 20th century. It makes a natural addition to a visit to Łańcut Castle and the town’s historic centre.

Layers of history

The parish was mentioned as early as 1349, while the brick church was built at the end of the 15th century. The side aisles were added in the 18th century, and the chancel and transept were remodelled in 1896–1900. The current form is therefore a clear record of the town and parish developing over several centuries.

Sanctuary and furnishings

The main focus of devotion is the image of Our Lady of the Scapular, crowned in 1992. The image has been venerated for more than three centuries, and numerous votive offerings survive nearby. Also look for the Baroque black-marble baptismal font and details of the later architectural alterations.

Practical information

This is an active sanctuary, so sightseeing must fit around services. The current Sunday and public-holiday Mass schedule lists 06:30, 08:00, 09:30, 11:00, 13:00 and 18:00; weekday Masses are at 06:15, 07:00 and 18:00. Check the parish website for changes before travelling. The church is at 20 Farna Street. Allow about 30–45 minutes for the interior and a short walk around the building.
