Church of the Holy Trinity in Skoczów

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Skoczów is a Neo-Gothic Evangelical Lutheran church built in 1863–1865. It stands on a small rise near the market square, and its slender tower with a pyramidal spire is a distinctive feature of the town panorama. It is a quiet stop on a walk through Skoczów, especially for visitors interested in Protestant architecture and the history of Cieszyn Silesia.

Neo-Gothic form

The church has a simple brick body with a short chancel, a tower at the entrance and buttresses reinforcing the walls. Inside are cross vaults and two-storey galleries on pillars with decorated balustrades. This arrangement increased capacity and clearly shows the practical design of a 19th-century Lutheran church.

Altar and pulpit

The focus of the furnishings is the Neo-Gothic high altar with a pulpit placed above it. Combining altar and pulpit reflects the Protestant tradition, in which worship and the spoken word are equally important. Take time to notice the proportions of the nave, the galleries and the light entering through the windows.

Practical information

The church stands on Zofia Kossak-Szatkowska Street, a few minutes from the market square. It is an active parish, and visitor access outside services may be available only on selected dates.
