Kiermusy near Tykocin

Kiermusy is a small settlement on the Narew, about 3 km from Tykocin and 30 km from Białystok. It is home to a stylised timber-and-stone complex with the Amber Castle, Dworek nad Łąkami, manor quarters and the Rzym Inn. It suits visitors who want to combine history, a museum, Podlasie cuisine and a quiet riverside walk.

The Amber Castle and museum

The main sight is the Amber Castle, home to the Polish Arms Museum named after Jerzy Hoffman. The collection includes militaria, archaeological artefacts, weapon replicas and props connected with film adaptations of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novels. The museum has an educational focus, and some exhibits may be handled. Inside and in the courtyard you can see period-inspired rooms, battlements, towers and a torture chamber in the dungeon.

The Narew, bison and the Rzym Inn

Kiermusy presents itself as a haven of bison and noble tradition. The estate has farm animals, riverside walking opportunities and cruises departing from Tykocin, subject to the operator and weather. The Rzym Inn serves Podlasie and Sarmatian-style food. An antiques fair takes place on the first Sunday of the month; selected months also bring a healthy-food market.
