Rogoźnik Quarry

In the eastern part of the village of Rogoźnik, in the municipality of Bobrowniki, a disused quarry lies in a small basin between the Buczyna and Sadowie hills. Limestone and marl from the Triassic period was extracted here — rocks with over 200 million years of history, now overgrown with greenery and suitable only for cautious walks, with no formal tourist infrastructure. ulica Węgroda provides easy access with parking; a path with wooden railings marks the entrance.

A post-quarry landscape

Vegetation is slowly reclaiming the site, giving walks a half-wild, exploratory feel. Visibility is best in late autumn and winter; in summer sturdy footwear helps. Few tourists come here, although quad and motocross riders do appear — worth bearing in mind when choosing the time of your visit.

Red clay

A distinctive feature is the deposits of red clay that easily sticks to shoes and trousers — one of the most recognisable details of the site and a souvenir of its geological past.

Practical information

There is no regular tourist infrastructure or permanent supervision; keep away from vehicles and unstable edges. The quarry combines well with walks around Będzin and Wojkowice — within a dozen or so kilometres further relics of rock extraction in the Dąbrowa Basin await.
