Wrocław's Christmas Market returns to the Market Square (Rynek) on 20 November 2026 and runs all the way to 7 January 2027, including New Year's Eve and Epiphany. For more than seven weeks, wooden huts fill the Rynek, Plac Solny and the Świdnicka and Oławska streets. According to the organiser, the 2025/2026 edition was the first to welcome over one million visitors – 1,025,887 people, 26% more than the year before, around one in ten of them from abroad.
This guide covers the official 2026 opening hours (with the Christmas and New Year exceptions), a map, how to get there from the airport and the main station, how to pay in Poland, the best times to avoid crowds and what to see nearby. We copied the dates and hours from the organiser's website on 13 October 2026. The stage programme is usually published just before opening; we will update this article when it appears.
Wrocław's market is less a single square than a festive village spread across the Old Town. The busiest part is the Market Square itself, around the Gothic Town Hall: the biggest food huts, carousels and the stage are here, and in the evening everything glows under strings of lights and a giant Christmas tree. Świdnicka and Oławska streets are the shopping stretches – glass baubles, ceramics, wooden toys, wool and leather goods, jewellery and natural cosmetics. Plac Solny tends to be a little calmer and is a good spot to pause with a hot drink.
Expect the full range of Polish winter street food: mulled wine (grzaniec) and mulled beer, hot chocolate, pierogi (dumplings), potato pancakes, grilled sausages, roasted chestnuts, grilled oscypek (smoked sheep's cheese from the Tatra Mountains, served with cranberry jam), gingerbread and chocolate-coated treats. Many traders come from abroad, so you'll also find Czech, Hungarian and German dishes. The organiser does not publish a price list, so we don't quote prices here – just expect tourist-centre rather than neighbourhood-bar prices.
The square hosts carousels (the market plan includes a Christmas-tree carousel), and the organiser runs Christmas workshops; the 2026 details will be posted on the official site. Plan a warm-up break in one of the cafés around the square – December evenings in Wrocław are often damp and chilly.
Keep an eye on the pavement: Wrocław's bronze dwarfs are scattered around the Market Square and the Old Town. Looking for them is a great way to keep children busy in the queue for waffles.
Outside the centre, the Partynice horse racecourse hosts a separate event called Kraina Koni (“Land of Horses”). According to its organiser, the 2026 edition runs from 27 November to 20 December. It's a good option if you're driving and want to avoid the Old Town crowds; see jarmarkwroclaw.pl for hours.
The map shows the main market on the Market Square and Plac Solny, plus the Kraina Koni market at Partynice. The organiser publishes a detailed stall plan for 2026 on pojawi.pl.

Gift idea: bring Wrocław home with you – design a personalised Wrocław map poster, mark the square with a heart and download a print-ready PDF.
Every hut prices its goods in złoty (zł, PLN); the euro is not legal tender here. Many traders accept cards and contactless payments, but not all, so keep some small notes and coins for a cheap snack or a carousel ride. Should a terminal suggest paying in your home currency, say no and pay in PLN: your own bank's rate almost always beats the on-the-spot conversion. Some stalls also charge a deposit for a branded mug: return it for a refund or keep it as a souvenir.
From Wrocław Airport, city bus 106 runs to the city centre and the main railway station; a taxi or ride-hailing app takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. From Wrocław Główny station, take trams 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 11 or 33 towards Galeria Dominikańska, which is about 3 minutes' walk from the square – or walk the 20 minutes through the Old Town. Tickets are sold at machines at stops, on board and in mobile apps; validate paper tickets as soon as you board.
With over a million visitors a season, Friday and Saturday evenings are packed. The calmest time is weekday mornings and early afternoons (the market opens at 10:00). For the lights without the crush, go Monday to Thursday after dark – in December it gets dark around 15:45. Note that the market is closed on 24 and 25 December and 1 January, and opens at 13:00 on 26 December. On New Year's Eve the food and drink huts stay open until 02:00, so you can see in the New Year at the market.
Arrive around 13:00 and start at the quieter Plac Solny and Oławska Street, where you can browse the craft stalls without queues. Around 14:30, head to the Racławice Panorama or across the river to Ostrów Tumski, then come back as the lights go on over the square. After dark, walk all four sides of the Rynek, have something hot to eat and finish by the Town Hall, when the market looks its best. If you still have energy, follow Świdnicka Street towards the Opera – the longest shopping stretch of the market.
Car access to the Old Town is restricted and parking is scarce. The organiser lists car parks such as the one at the National Forum of Music, Kazimierza Wielkiego and Szewska streets, and the underground car park at Wratislavia Tower on Świdnicka Street. Larger car parks further out (for example by the Aquapark or Anders Hill) are a 20–35-minute walk from the square. Park-and-ride plus tram is often the easiest choice.
The square is paved with uneven cobblestones and cable covers cross the market area. The organiser installs metal ramps (near the toilets, the Cloth Hall exit and some attractions) and ramps to the covered seating areas; facilities are marked on the interactive market plan. There are first-aid points and staff on site.
Old Town hotels sell out fast on December weekends. Book early or look around the main station or the Nadodrze district, a few tram stops from the market. The organiser's Hotels page lists partner discounts.
Between mugs of mulled wine, try our audio guide “Wrocław: Dwarfs, Bridges and a City That Started Over”: 13 stops over about 3.5 km, from Świdnicka Street – right by the market – to Cathedral Island, played in your phone's browser; the first two stops are free. For more ideas, see things to do in Wrocław.
On Friday 20 November 2026. It runs until 7 January 2027.
Daily 10:00–21:00. Closed on 24 and 25 December and 1 January; opens at 13:00 on 26 December; on 31 December gift stalls close at 17:00 and food and drink stay open until 02:00.
No, admission is free. You only pay for food, shopping and rides.
The organiser doesn't publish prices and each trader sets their own. We'll add 2026 prices once a reliable source publishes them. Expect to pay a mug deposit at some stalls.
We found no ban in the organiser's information, but weekend evenings mean dense crowds, noise and hot drinks. If you bring a dog, come on a weekday morning.
No. It's closed on 24 and 25 December and reopens at 13:00 on 26 December.
