Lakes
Kluczbork, Opole
The newest attraction around Kluczbork is only a little over ten years old. The reservoir on the Stobrawa river opened on 2 October 2012, and by the following summer it already had a bathing area. Today the lake at Ligota Górna is the town's beach, a walking route and a fishing water that has even hosted a world club angling championship.
Construction began in 2009, deepening an existing gravel pit and flooding about one and a half kilometres of the Stobrawa valley. It is the first retention reservoir built on this river. It is about 1.4 km long and 600 metres wide, and the municipality gives its area as about 60 hectares with at least 1.5 million m³ of water. It protects the area from floods and stores water for dry spells.
Access to the lake is free, as is the car park on ul. Letniskowa, where you will also find a café and toilets. Before swimming, check current notices on water quality, as cyanobacteria blooms occurred in the early years. Allow about an hour for a walk around, half a day for the beach. It is only a few minutes' drive from central Kluczbork.
