Kluczbork was founded by the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, hence its German name Kreuzburg. The town is best known for Father Jan Dzierżon, the father of modern beekeeping, to whom the town museum is devoted. On the market square stands the Baroque town hall with two of its "Twelve Apostles" houses, and nearby the Gothic Church of Christ the Saviour with a white-and-gold Rococo interior. A few kilometres from the centre you will find the wooden church in Bąków with a Gothic triptych from 1370, and Kluczbork Reservoir with a beach and a path around the water. A quiet weekend town for lovers of historic buildings and lakeside relaxation.
