Olesno is a small town in the Opole region, best known for the wooden pilgrimage Church of St Anne from 1518, extended in the 17th century with five chapels arranged in a star. In the centre stands the Gothic Church of St Michael the Archangel, nicknamed the Church of Angels, with a bell that returned from Bavaria decades after the war, and nearby the neo-Baroque Corpus Christi Church of 1909–1913. The town's history and figures such as Józef Lompa are presented in the Regional Museum, housed in a Baroque townhouse on ulica Jaronia. On the market square stands the town hall with its columned portico. Olesno makes a short stop for lovers of wooden and church architecture.
