Lądek-Zdrój, Lower Silesian
Trojak is the mountain spa guests in Lądek-Zdrój have been climbing for generations. The summit is 766 metres high, and from its gneiss rocks and a viewing platform built in 2022 you can see almost the whole Kłodzko Valley. A few minutes from the top stand rock towers and gateways with dozens of climbing routes.
Trojak belongs to the Golden Mountains in the Eastern Sudetes and rises directly above the spa district of Lądek; part of the town climbs its western slope. Two loops of forest road, the Great Ring and the Small Ring, circle the mountain, with paths crossing the slope between them. A branch of the old Salt Road from Kłodzko to Moravia once ran this way towards Karpowska Pass.
The slopes are covered mainly with spruce, mixed with beech, larch, fir and ash. On the north-west slope, along the Jadwiżanka stream, lies the Mieczysław Wilczkiewicz Arboretum.
Trojak's rocks, together with the Table Rocks on the slope of Królówka, are known as the Lądek Crags. Nearly 80 climbing routes with fixed bolts have been set up here. On the steep north-west slope, the 440-metre "Wartek" ski tow has run since 1979.
The blue E3 trail climbs to the summit from the centre of Lądek; the most convenient place to leave a car is on Leśna Street. The climb takes about 45 minutes, and the round trip about 1.5 hours with around 260 metres of ascent. The path can be muddy after rain. From Trojak you can continue to the ruins of Karpień Castle or return to town along the red nature trail via the Table Rocks and Stójków.
