Transjura Horse Riding Trail

The Transjura Horse Riding Trail is 204 kilometres of orange-marked routes for riders, laid out in 2007 along the red Trail of the Eagles' Nests. It links Częstochowa (the Mirów district) with Nielepice near Kraków — and in practice connects the stables and equestrian centres of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland into a single network of rides in the saddle.

Castles and limestone outliers from the saddle

The route passes the ruins of the castles of Olsztyn, Mirów, Bobolice, Bąkowiec in Morsko, Ogrodzieniec and Rabsztyn, and the watchtowers at Przewodziszowice and Łutowiec. Along the way remain the Sokole Góry, Zielona Góra and Ostrężnik reserves with a cave, the Błędów Desert, the Okiennik Wielki rock and the limestone outliers of the Mirowskie, Ruskie and Morskie Rocks. In Złoty Potok the trail leads past the Raczyński Palace, and in Paczółtowice past a sanctuary.

A practical network of stables

The trail was designed so that stables appear between successive stages: you can use, among others, the Pegaz Club in Częstochowa, the Wiking Stable in Złoty Potok or the Hucul horse stud in Nielepice. Orange markings make the route easy to follow, and the division into sections allows planning both day trips and multi-day rides.

For whom

It is worth setting out on a horse accustomed to roads and traffic, as some sections run along public roads. The best months are spring and autumn, when Upland meadows and forests offer shade and water; on hot days plan the stages for the morning.
