Termy Maltańskie

Termy Maltańskie in Poznań (roughly TER-mih mahl-TAHN-skyeh, POZ-nahn) is one of Poland's largest swimming complexes: a water park, a sauna area and Olympic-standard sports pools on the north shore of Lake Malta. Some pools are fed with geothermal water from a well 1,306 m deep. It is one of the best things to do in Poznań with kids, whatever the weather, and a good choice for an evening sauna or a serious swim.

Where it is

Poznań is in western Poland, about 2.5–3 hours from Berlin by train and roughly 2.5 hours from Warsaw. The complex is about 3 km east of the Old Market Square, next to Lake Malta, a popular rowing lake and recreation area.

At a glance

The complex opened on October 16, 2011. It has 18 pools with about 5,000 m² of water surface. The sports section is built around an Olympic pool of about 51 × 25 m, which a movable bulkhead can split into two 25 m pools, with seating for almost 3,800 spectators.

What to expect in the water park

• Waterslides, including the Wild River (64.5 m indoors, plus a 166 m outdoor version in summer), a raft slide, a multimedia slide, Turbo and Kamikaze. Several are seasonal (May/June–September) and many have age and height limits; the Wild River requires 14+ and 160 cm.
• Year-round outdoor pools: a relaxation pool overlooking the lake and a thermal-mineral pool you can use even in winter.
• An indoor geothermal pool fed by the complex's own well.
• Kids' areas: a toddler pool with a mini slide, a splash play structure with a giant tipping bucket, an interactive play zone and, in summer, beach playgrounds.

Saunas and sports pools

The Sauna & Wellness zone is for adults (18+) only. The sports pools open at 6:00 am, perfect for an early swim, and a water park ticket also includes them.

How long to stay and tips

With kids, allow 3 hours or a full day. Tickets are time-based, and overstaying costs 1 PLN per minute. Teens 13+ can enter alone only with a physical school ID. Weekends and school holidays are busiest in the afternoon, so arrive early. Bring flip-flops and a towel.

• Saunas: Monday–Friday 2:30–11:00 pm, weekends 11:30 am–11:00 pm.
• Sports pools: Monday–Saturday 6:00 am–11:00 pm, Sundays and holidays from 7:00 am.
• Water park tickets (adult): 1 hour 46 PLN, 2 hours 61 PLN, 3 hours 75 PLN, full day 109 PLN; reduced and family tickets are cheaper, and under-3s are free.
• Saunas: from 67 PLN per hour; sports pools: from 20 PLN per hour.

Getting there and parking

The address is ul. Termalna 1. There are two paid car parks: A (5 PLN per hour, max 50 PLN) and guarded B (8 PLN per hour, max 80 PLN); the first 20 minutes are free. Plan public transport with Poznań's ZTM journey planner.
