Silesian Botanical Garden in Radzionków

The Silesian Botanical Garden in Radzionków is an unusual institution: a habitat garden whose main purpose is the active protection of plant species and rare plant communities threatened in the natural environment. Most of its area is given over to natural habitats, alongside which traditional collections of ornamental plants have been laid out.

The garden is run by the Silesian Botanical Garden – Union of Associations, the same body that manages the garden in Mikołów. It occupies a large area of a former quarry on Księża Góra, near the MOSiR sports facilities and the swimming pool. The visitor route forms a loop, with information boards, wooden animal sculptures and a pond along the way — making a walk here also an outdoor nature lesson.

In practice

The garden is a new attraction and still growing. It can be visited from dawn to dusk, and admission is free. The entrance is on Zejera Street on Księża Góra; the site is operated by the Regional Ecological Education Station (tel. +48 536 330 776, ogrodradzionkow@sibg.org.pl). A visit combines well with a walk around Księża Góra and the nearby swimming pool.
