Silesian Botanical Garden in Mikołów

The Silesian Botanical Garden in Mikołów's Mokre district is a large garden complex run by the Silesian Botanical Garden Association of Associations, combining nature conservation with ecological education. Admission is free, as is parking.

The garden consists of two parts. The Yellow Garden at 5 Sosnowa Street is the main section, with a viewing tower at its centre, a dry rocky "flood plain" with a leaning pine and a corner dedicated to climbers. The space is insect-friendly: beehives, pollinator hotels and nectar-bearing plants are on site, with plenty of heathers and rhododendrons. Beneath the tower there is a courtyard café.

The Red Garden on Grudniowa Street, a few kilometres away, is quieter and less visited. It holds lavender fields, heathers, collections of ornamental grasses and a pond, while wooden boardwalks over wet ground recall the park trails of the Narew river. A gazebo with a bench invites a picnic.

In practice
