Museums
Poznań, Greater Poland
The Croissant Museum in Poznań (Rogalowe Muzeum Poznania, roughly "ro-GAH-lo-veh moo-ZEH-oom") is a lively, hands-on show rather than a museum of display cases. Right on the Old Market Square, costumed hosts teach you how Poznań's famous St. Martin's croissant is made, crack jokes in the local dialect and hand out a certified croissant at the end. It is one of the most popular family things to do in Poznań, and the windows look straight at the Town Hall goats.
The presenters walk you through the history of the rogal świętomarciński, the horseshoe-shaped pastry Poznań bakes for St. Martin's Day on November 11, and invite the audience to roll and fold dough in a stylized baking demonstration. Tasting is included in the ticket. Visitors report the show lasts about 45–60 minutes; the museum's site does not state an exact length. There is also a newer program about the Town Hall, the goats and the bugle call.
Weekends, summer and the days around November 11 sell out early, so book ahead.
The listed hours are the start times of the first and last show: Sunday–Friday 11:00–15:30, Saturday 11:00–17:00 (as of October 2026). The museum is open seven days a week except for dates announced on its website; no separate winter schedule is published, so check the online calendar for winter 2026/27.
The address is Stary Rynek 41/2, but the entrance is at Klasztorna 23, a small lane just behind the east side of the square. Poznań is in western Poland, about 2.5–3 hours by direct train from Berlin and a similar time from Warsaw; from Poznań Główny station the square is a 25-minute walk or a short tram ride. Accessibility details are not published, so ask before booking if you need step-free access.
If you are traveling with kids, or simply want a fun, edible introduction to Poznań's identity, yes. Time your visit so you can catch the goats at noon, then continue to the nearby Greater Poland Uprising Museum, the Museum of Musical Instruments or the Archaeological Museum, all within a few minutes' walk.
