Viewing Platform on Święty Krzyż

On the summit of Łysa Góra (594 m asl), also called Święty Krzyż (Holy Cross), a large viewing platform has been built. Its greatest asset is not only the panorama of the Świętokrzyskie ranges but what lies directly beneath your feet: the gołoborza — fields of quartzitic sandstone blocks and Cambrian shales, rock formations unique on a national scale, covering the slopes of the Łysogóry range.

Stone rivers under your feet

Łysa Góra is the second-highest peak of the Holy Cross Mountains (only Łysica is higher) and lies within the Świętokrzyski National Park. The gołoborza, partly overgrown today, still expose broad expanses of stone; in 2023 photographs with a view reaching as far as Warsaw were taken from the scree. The platform's stairs and terrace are made of thick metal grating, and information boards complete the site.

How to get there

You currently cannot drive to the summit: the asphalt road is closed to cars, and a paid shuttle bus runs from the car park in Huta Szklana. Walking options: the climb from Nowa Słupia or the red Main Holy Cross Trail from Łysica. Access to the platform is paid, and the site is accessible around the clock.

Nearby

A few hundred metres away stands the monastery of the Missionary Oblates on Święty Krzyż, and within walking distance are the remains of a pre-Christian cult rampart and the Radio-Television Broadcasting Centre with its 157 m tower. The Świętokrzyski National Park begins right next door — and when the air is perfectly clear, it is worth standing on the terrace and scanning the distant horizon.
