Viewing Platform on Wola Krogulecka

Above the Poprad valley, on the summit of Wola hill (about 550 m asl), rises the spiral viewing platform known as the “Snail”. The fanciful shape is not an architect's whim: the coiled structure is walked along a path that climbs in circles, offering views from a constantly changing perspective — almost all around.

A panorama of the Sącz Beskids

From the top you see mainly the Radziejowa Range, the Sącz Basin spreading below and the winding Poprad; in clear conditions the view reaches as far as the Beskid Wyspowy range. Wola hill rises about 200 m above the valley floor, so the panorama is wide in every direction. The platform is adapted for prams — families can come for the views without worry.

How to get there

The easiest way is by car from Barcice: a signposted road of about 3 km leads from the centre of the village — narrow but asphalted. A free car park waits about 200 m from the platform, then a short walk. On summer weekends spaces fill up, so it is better to arrive in the morning. On foot, the blue PTTK trail to Makowica leads from Barcice; cyclists have the red trail at their disposal.

Entry is free and the object is accessible around the clock, all year round. Next to it stands a sheltered fire pit with wooden benches, and for the youngest a sandpit with a swing. This is a place for a longer stop: you can wait here for sunset over the Poprad before heading back down.
