Jedlinka Palace in Jedlina-Zdrój

Jedlinka Palace stands in Jedlina-Zdrój, in the Jedlinka district, at 8 Zamkowa Street. The history of the complex reaches the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, when a castle called Tannhausen stood here; the heyday of the palace and the spa came in the 18th century.

Secrets of World War II

During the war a sub-camp of Gross-Rosen and a POW camp operated on the estate, and the palace itself was a classified facility codenamed „Willa Erika" — it held the command of the German Todt Organisation, responsible for building the underground Riese complex in the Owl Mountains. Prisoners worked in local factories and on the tunnels. After the war the buildings housed an orphanage and an agricultural cooperative.

Today: hotel, exhibitions and a brewery

After thorough renovation the palace — now privately owned — offers a hotel and permanent exhibitions: minerals, the history of the palace and of the Todt Organisation. On tracks by the palace stands a replica of the staff wagon of the „Amerika" train, with an educational film and boards about KL Gross-Rosen. Since 2014 a brewery has operated here with four beers in its standing offer.

Visits: in summer daily 10:00 am–6:00 pm; in spring and autumn Tue–Thu 11:00 am–5:00 pm, Fri–Sun 10:00 am–6:00 pm; in winter Fri–Sun 10:00 am–6:00 pm. Tickets: PLN 20 / reduced PLN 16, the wagon PLN 10 / PLN 8, combined ticket PLN 25 / PLN 20. Free parking; not accessible for prams. Nearby: Grodno Castle (5.5 km), the Riese tunnels in Walim (6.6 km), Książ Castle (15.2 km).
