Lubusz Land Museum in Zielona Góra

The Lubusz Land Museum is the principal museum of Zielona Góra and one of the older cultural institutions in the region, operating since 1922. It occupies a former county office building raised in 1889 on Niepodległości Avenue, right in the city centre. The museum collects and protects the tangible and intangible heritage of the lands along the middle Oder, which after 1945 came to share the name Lubusz Land; its collections weave together art, history and regional traditions.

Wine Museum and Torture Museum

Two departments stand out. In 2006 the museum's winemaking section — the only one of its kind in Poland — became an independent Wine Museum, and a year later, in 2007, the Torture Museum opened with a collection of historical judicial instruments. Alongside them work the departments of Old Art, Contemporary Art and History.

Exhibitions and practicalities

The permanent exhibitions lead visitors through the city's history from the Middle Ages to the present, highlighting the making of local identity. Galleries are open Wednesday to Friday, 12:00–17:00, on Saturdays 10:00–15:00 and Sundays 10:00–16:00; the museum closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Address: al. Niepodległości 15.
