Butterfly House in Dębki

A tropical greenhouse a few steps from the beach, filled with hundreds of exotic butterflies that fly freely and land on visitors' hands, clothes and bags. The seasonal butterfly house at ul. Spacerowa 3a in Dębki opens only in the summer holidays and makes a good plan for a day when the seaside is rainy or windy.

What to see

The butterflies come from Asia, Africa and South America, and the largest specimens have a wingspan of up to 30 cm. The house's species guide features the blue Morpho peleides, the owl-eyed Caligo idomeneus, the green-and-black Siproeta stelenes and Attacus atlas, one of the largest moths in the world. There are no display cases or pins – this is a living exhibition among tropical plants in warm, humid air. With caterpillars and pupae on show, you can follow the whole life cycle from egg to adult.

Guides take visitors round and talk about the senses, habits and abilities of butterflies – you'll learn, for instance, that some can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h. They adapt the story to the audience, from preschoolers to teachers with a class. Schools and hotels can book dedicated packages, and the space can be reserved for photo shoots.

Tripto tips

The butterfly house is open from 1 July to 31 August, daily from 10:00 to 19:00; the 2026 season is over, so the next chance is the 2027 summer holidays. The price list gives a standard ticket at PLN 31, a reduced one (children under 18) at PLN 27, and free entry for under-threes; there are also family tickets, e.g. 2+2 for PLN 108, and group tickets for 30 or more people at PLN 24. Allow 30–60 minutes. Don't touch the butterflies – the scales on their wings are easily damaged – and let them land on your hand or sleeve of their own accord. Afterwards, walk to the mouth of the Piaśnica, which closes the beach at Dębki to the west.
