Brzeźno Pier is 136 m long and 7.2 m wide – modest next to Sopot's, but much quieter, and from the end you can watch ships heading into the port of Gdańsk. This wooden pier at the end of al. Jana Pawła II is one of the easiest ways to stand above the open sea in Gdańsk. A major renovation was completed at the end of 2025, giving it a new deck, railings and benches.
Brzeźno has been a bathing resort since the early 19th century, and in 1900 the first pier was built at the end of ul. Zdrojowa. It was 100 m long and excursion boats called there. Between the wars it was extended to 250 m and widened to 6 m, but that structure did not survive. The present pier was built in 1993–1996, about a kilometre north-west of the first one, and opened on 19 July 1996.
The pier has been repaired several times. Work in 2021 cost PLN 792,000, and in 2022 more than PLN 350,000. In autumn 2025 a renovation lasting over three months began, costing almost PLN 2.2 million: the steel piles were cleaned and protected, the load-bearing frames strengthened and the wooden deck completely replaced.
Brzeźno is one of the oldest seaside resorts on the Gdańsk coast. As early as 1804 Major Ernst von Zieten offered lodgings and baths in heated seawater here. In 1833 a spa house with 40 rooms was built. Nearby is Brzeźno Park, the former spa park, restored since 2005.
A walk along the pier takes only about fifteen minutes, so combine it with a stroll along the beach or a visit to the Spa House. It is loveliest in the evening, when the sun sets over the bay. Take care on the pier in strong wind or storms. Lifeguarded bathing areas operate only in the summer season.
