All Saints’ Wooden Church in Łososina Górna

In Łososina Górna near Nowy Sącz stands the wooden church of All Saints, the temple with the oldest credentials in the area. The present structure dates from 1778, but it was built on the base of earlier sacral buildings, including a church from the 15th century.

The construction is an example of local wooden building: a tower on a square plan, a polygonally closed presbytery and two side chapels, with the main entrance beneath the tower. The church was rebuilt several times; the last major renovation took place in 2008, when the roof was covered with copper sheeting. It is a prized monument of the region’s wooden architecture and lies on the Wooden Architecture Trail of Małopolska.

The most precious furnishing is the Gothic stone baptismal font of 1535, accompanied by a stoup from the same period. The Baroque main altar of 1873 holds an 18th-century painting of the Virgin and Child, covered by a canvas showing All Saints adoring the Holy Trinity. Rococo side altars and a richly carved pulpit complete the furnishing; the figural and ornamental wall paintings were made in 1882 by Antoni Miklasiński (restored in 1958).

The tower hangs the bell „St. Andrew”, cast in 1520 and weighing 178 kg. It survived requisitions in both world wars and was restored and re-blessed in 2022. The church is on Koszarska Street, best visited outside service times.
