Former Cistercian Abbey in Rudy

The former Cistercian monastery and palace complex in Rudy is one of the most interesting heritage sites between Racibórz and Gliwice. The former abbey now combines a religious complex, historic buildings and an extensive landscape park. It is a place for unhurried architecture sightseeing, a walk and time in green surroundings, not just a quick church stop.

Basilica and former abbey

The centre of the complex is the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, linked to the Cistercians’ centuries-long presence. The Romanesque-Gothic origins remain legible despite later alterations and post-war reconstruction. Look for the former monastery layout, courtyard, church interior and the surviving elements of Rudy’s former residential character.

Park, cloister garth and exhibitions

Extend the visit with the landscape park, monastic cloister garth and exhibitions arranged in the historic buildings.
