Water Tower in Gołdap

The Water Tower in Gołdap is a historic waterworks tower at 35 Paderewskiego Street, now home to a café and viewing point. Built in 1905, it formed part of the town’s water-supply network. The building is 46.5 metres high and has seven levels; its terraces look over Gołdap and the surrounding forests.

History and architecture

The tower was built by the Gdańsk company A. W. Müller. Its form consists of a stone plinth, shaft and tank enclosure, topped with a dome, lantern and spire. It is one of the few historic technical structures in Gołdap, so the site is worth seeing as part of the town’s waterworks history, not only as a photo stop.

View and café

The tower has two modern viewing terraces and a café serving drinks and cakes. The height provides a broad view of the town and nearby greenery, while the telescopes do not require a separate fee. Food service, prices and terrace access are managed by the operator and may change with the season.

Practical information

In the 2026 season, the site is open from 24 April. Check current hours, tickets and possible technical closures on the official website before travelling. The tower is at 35 Paderewskiego Street; combine it with a walk through Gołdap, the lakeside promenade and other viewpoints in the Masurian Hills.
