Mountains & peaks
Chełm Mountain above Myślenice is a popular destination for a short trip from Kraków and a base for active recreation. You can walk to the summit or take the chairlift from Zarabie. At the top, a 15-metre viewing tower offers views, in good weather, of Myślenice, the Maków and Island Beskids, the Gorce, Kraków and even the Tatra Mountains.
The tower stands beside the upper lift station and a regional inn. The ride makes a family outing possible without a long uphill approach, but check whether the lift and tower are operating on your chosen day. Walkers can use Chełm as a destination for a short outing on forest roads and ski slopes; visibility depends on the weather.
Zarabie and Chełm form Myślenice’s outdoor-sports base. In summer there are cycling routes, including downhill sections, and the lift may carry bikes under the operator’s current rules. In winter the ski station offers a four-seat chairlift and runs of approximately 855 and 1,100 m; equipment rental and a ski school also operate, depending on the season.
Chełm works well as a few-hour trip, combining a ride or walk with time in Zarabie and Myślenice. Lift and tower hours, prices, bike transport and ski operations change seasonally and with the weather. Check current notices from Sport Arena Myślenice before travelling, and wear stable footwear on the rocky and forest sections.
