The Donnersmarck palace

The Silesian Culture Centre occupies the 19th-century Henckel von Donnersmarck palace at 1 Parkowa Street in Nakło Śląskie. It was completed in 1858 in an English Gothic Revival style and expanded in 1891. Since 2013 the palace has housed an institution presenting Silesian history, art and culture.

Exhibitions and interiors

A visit includes the palace and permanent and temporary exhibitions. The “Count’s Drawing Room” presents 19th- and 20th-century furniture, a globe and a silver serving dish. “The Glory of the Henckel von Donnersmarck Family” displays documents, memorabilia, books and decorations. “Meeting After Years” introduces workers of the former estate. A historic palace park adds a pleasant walk. The centre suits visitors interested in residential architecture, aristocratic history and Upper Silesian heritage. It also organises concerts, talks, workshops and guided visits; groups should book in advance.

Hours, tickets and access

The exhibitions are closed on Mondays. From May to September: Tuesday–Sunday 11:00 am–6:00 pm, last entry 5:15 pm; from October to April: Tuesday–Sunday 11:00 am–5:00 pm, last entry 4:15 pm. Tickets cost PLN 20 regular, PLN 15 reduced, PLN 45 family and PLN 15 per person for groups over 10. A guide costs PLN 80 in Polish or PLN 100 in English.
