Old towns & squares
The Kraków Christmas Market on the Main Market Square is a seasonal event in the heart of the city. Wooden stalls stand beside the Cloth Hall and Town Hall Tower, making it easy to combine the visit with a walk through the Old Town. This is primarily a shopping and food market rather than a ticketed attraction; admission to the market area is free.
Vendors offer hand-painted baubles, Christmas decorations, ceramics, wooden, wool and linen goods, jewellery, souvenirs and seasonal crafts. Food stalls sell regional products, cheese, bread, grilled dishes, oscypek, gingerbread, roasted nuts and Galician mulled wine. The range and prices depend on each vendor and the current edition, so old prices from previous years should not be treated as a menu.
According to the current announcement, the 2026/2027 edition is planned for 27 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. Trading is scheduled daily from 10:00 to 20:00, with selected food stalls possibly staying open longer. The event programme is still marked TBA, so check concerts, parades and presentations again before travelling.
Weekend afternoons and evenings are the busiest, especially once the square’s lights are on. For a calmer shopping experience, arrive in the morning on a weekday. Combine the market with the Cloth Hall, St Mary’s Basilica, Town Hall Tower and a walk around the Planty. Check the organiser’s current notices because dates, hours and stall layouts can change.
