Mineral Baths Solec-Zdrój

Baseny Mineralne (Mineral Pools) in Solec-Zdrój (say "SOH-lets ZDROOY") is a year-round pool, sauna and health complex in a small spa village in southern Poland, famous for some of the strongest sulfur waters in the country. Its star attraction is a warm brine-and-sulfur pool fed directly from the "Malina" spring, alongside a leisure pool with slides, a toddler pool and a sauna zone. It makes a relaxing winter stop on a trip through the countryside northeast of Kraków.

Where it is and how to get there

Solec-Zdrój lies in the Ponidzie region of Świętokrzyskie province, roughly 1.5 hours' drive northeast of Kraków and a short drive from the larger spa town of Busko-Zdrój. The complex is at Partyzantów 18. There is a guest parking lot open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; leaving a car overnight costs PLN 100. A car is the most convenient way to get here.

The sulfur pool

The brine-sulfur pool covers 66 m², is 0.9 m deep and kept at 35–36°C (95–97°F). According to the operator, water flows straight from the Malina spring, which contains about 900 mg/l of active sulfur compounds; in the pool itself, hydrogen sulfide measures 9.6 mg/l and total mineralization exceeds 23 g/l. Expect the characteristic "rotten egg" smell. The recommended soak is 20–30 minutes, the zone is a quiet area, and it is open to adults and children 14 and over (supervised).

Sulfur baths are not for everyone. The operator lists contraindications including heart failure, heart rhythm disorders, a previous heart attack, unstable high blood pressure, cancer history, pregnancy and breastfeeding. It also recommends ending your visit in this pool, after the saunas and play pools.

Pools for the whole family

• a 16.5 × 16.5 m leisure pool (1.3 m deep, 31–32°C) with massage benches, water jets, an air geyser and two slides of about 15 m,
• a toddler pool (15–30 cm deep, 32–34°C) with a little elephant slide,
• outdoor pools from May 1 to September 30.

The building is fully accessible, with an elevator, a separate changing room and pool handrails.

Saunas and health center

The sauna zone is for adults only. On the last Friday of each month there is a themed sauna night; the next, a Halloween special, runs on October 30, 2026, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., and regular pools and saunas close at 7:45 p.m. that day. The health center offers physiotherapy and a brine inhalation room.

• Pools: daily 8 a.m.–9:45 p.m.
• Saunas: Mon–Fri 2–9:45 p.m., weekends and holidays 11 a.m.–9:45 p.m.
• Pool ticket: PLN 39 for 1 hour, PLN 71 for 2 hours, PLN 96 for 3 hours on weekdays; PLN 48/86/114 at weekends.
• Reduced and family: PLN 35/64/90 on weekdays, PLN 42/78/104 at weekends (over-60s, students under 24, under-18s, children under 12 with an adult).
• OPEN (pools plus saunas, 18+): PLN 85 for 2 hours on weekdays, PLN 100 at weekends.
• Every ticket includes 15 minutes for changing; after that, PLN 1 per started minute (PLN 2 in the saunas). Towel rental PLN 20 plus a PLN 60 deposit.

Is it worth visiting?

If you are curious about Poland's spa tradition, yes: few places let you soak in sulfur water this concentrated without booking a medical stay. Pair it with nearby Wiślica, a historic village with a Romanesque crypt and Gothic collegiate church.
