Dusica Waterfall in the Little Beskids

On the southern slope of Smrekowica, at about 700 m above sea level, the Dusica stream falls over a rocky ledge, forming the largest waterfall in the Little Beskids: it is 5 metres high and 4 metres wide. The name comes from the Dusica stream, which is why it is also called the Dusica waterfall or Dusiołek. It is a secluded and hard-to-reach corner, which is why it has kept its wild, mountain character.

The stream, the grotto and nature

Dusica is a stream whose entire catchment lies in the Little Beskids: it rises below the south-eastern slopes of the ridge linking Smrekowica with Łamana Skała and flows into the Koconia stream in the village of Las. About 50 metres above the waterfall lies the Komoniecki Grotto, an inanimate nature monument, recognisable by the small waterfall falling from the cave ceiling. The hike is worth extending to Zbójeckie Okno, considered the most beautiful rock hoodoo of the whole Little Beskids, located west of Łamana Skała.

How to get there

The waterfall lies off the trail and reaching it requires care. The most popular option is the green trail from Targoszów to Czarna Góra, from which you should turn downhill: after about 15 minutes of a steep descent you reach the Komoniecki Grotto, and from the cave only a few dozen metres separate you from the waterfall. Alternatively, take the path from the village of Las along Komonieckiego Street near Ślemień, or leave the blue trail from Kocony towards Łamana Skała. From Targoszów the whole trip takes about 2 hours. Entry is free, the place is accessible all year round and around the clock, but the terrain is not suitable for prams.
