Silesianka Trail of Viewing Towers

A route of thirty-four towers and viewing platforms on both sides of the Polish-Czech border in the Silesia Euroregion: eleven objects in Poland and twenty-three in the Czech Republic. The project joins dozens of municipalities, and its maps and bilingual website make the tour easy to plan. The highest viewpoint is the Bolt Tower in Ostrava — 75 metres above ground.

On the Polish side

In the Silesian-Opolian borderland stand the Graniczne Meandry Odry tower in Zabełków (26.9 m), the castle tower in Tworków (21.5 m), the platform in the Moravian Gate Arboretum in Racibórz (12 m) and the Rycerska Tower in Wodzisław Śląski (14.6 m), as well as viewpoints in Pogrzebień, Pietrowice Wielkie, Mszana, Grabówka, Głubczyce and the Branice commune.

On the Czech side

The New Town Hall tower in Ostrava is 85.6 m tall, with the terrace at 73 m; Ostrava also has the Bolt Tower, built in 2014–2015 on blast furnace no. 1 of the Lower Vítkovice area, with a café at the top. Further towers wait in Opava (a 35 m viewpoint), Hradec nad Moravicí, Kopřivnice and Štramberk.

In practice

Some towers are open all year, the rest usually from mid-March to the end of November. Entry is free at some and paid at others; most car parks are free.
