Ustrzyki Dolne, Subcarpathian
The Gromadzyń Ski Station sits on the northern slope of Mount Gromadzyń (655 m above sea level), right above Ustrzyki Dolne – the town centre is about 1.7 km away. It is one of the town's best-known attractions and one of a handful of small Polish ski areas with a FIS-homologated run. A good choice for family skiing in the Bieszczady Mountains, away from the crowds of the big resorts.
Since January 2020 a four-seater chairlift has carried skiers up the mountain: it is 722.59 m long with a vertical rise of 162.35 m and a capacity of 1,920 people per hour. It is complemented by two double T-bar lifts (about 700 m each) and two button lifts, 300 and 200 m long. The chairlift has also boosted hiking and cycling in the area, as it is useful outside winter too.
The resort offers almost 7 km of runs, including:
All runs except the ski trail have snowmaking and are groomed. Other sources give more modest figures – 3.4 km of runs and 4 lifts between 498 and 654 m – and run lengths differ from map to map. Treat the numbers as a guide.
Gromadzyń works best for families and beginners. There is a ski school, and the short runs served by button lifts make the first turns easier. Intermediate skiers will find a few more interesting sections, including the red slalom run. On site there is ski hire and servicing, a GOPR mountain rescue post, three car parks and food outlets seating about 200; floodlighting also allows evening skiing.
