Lakes
Gołuchów, Greater Poland
The sandy beach at ul. Leśna 1 is the lifeguarded bathing area of the Gołuchów Tourism and Sports Centre (GOTiS) on the reservoir formed by the Trzemna river. The water has an excellent record: in four consecutive official classifications covering 2019–2025, its quality was rated excellent. The bathing area is small and surrounded by woodland.
Gołuchów Lake is not a natural lake but a dam reservoir built in 1969–1971 on the Trzemna (also called the Ciemna). It covers about 51.5 ha, holds 1.4 million m³ at normal water level and is up to 7 m deep, with an average depth of 2.7 m. The designated bathing area takes up roughly 100 m of the right-hand shore. The reservoir also acts as auxiliary flood storage, and the Polish Angling Association stocks it with fish.
The beach belongs to the GOTiS holiday centre, whose 45 cabins sleep up to 190 guests. In summer the facilities include:
According to the GOTiS price list (October 2026), parking a car costs PLN 20, a motorbike PLN 4 and a coach PLN 50. A shower is PLN 5 per person and the beach toilets PLN 3. The operator lists no separate beach entry fee. Animals are not allowed on the beach or in the bathing area, so take your dog for a walk in the woods instead.
Lifeguards are on duty only during the official bathing season, whose dates are published each year by the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate's bathing-water service – outside it, the beach is simply the shore of the reservoir. The 2025 water profile recorded no blue-green algae blooms in the previous four years, but rated the risk as medium, so check the latest notice during heatwaves. Half a day by the water combines easily with sightseeing: Gołuchów has a castle museum, an arboretum and a European bison enclosure, and Kalisz is about 20 minutes' drive away.
