Park Górnik in Siemianowice Śląskie

Górnik Park in Michałkowice, a district on the north-western outskirts of Siemianowice Śląskie, is a former manor park surrounding the residence of the local landowners. The story begins with the Mieroszewski family, who raised the first manor here; the building — rebuilt in neo-Gothic style by the Rheinbaben family — is known today as the Zameczek, the little castle. Later the estate was taken over by the Michał mine, and it is now cared for by the Siemianowice mine.

The neo-Gothic palace at Oświęcimska street is today the main ornament of the park. Beside it stands the 19th-century Gardener's House, styled after Gothic architecture and decorated with a round tower crowned by battlements, under renovation for the last few years. In the heart of the park lies a pond where anglers meet; the tree stand is made of beeches, oaks, chestnuts and maples, while children get a playground and a grotto.

In practice

Entry is free and the park is open around the clock. In recent years the site has been systematically revitalized, and the palace hosts cultural events. Michałkowice, home to over 15,000 residents and covering 545.5 hectares, have a distinctly residential-industrial character, so the park remains the main place for a walk and everyday rest in this part of Siemianowice.
