Podlaska Opera and Orchestra

Opera i Filharmonia Podlaska — the Stanisław Moniuszko European Art Centre — is the largest artistic institution in north-eastern Poland. Its building opened on 28 September 2012 in Białystok's Central Park (Odeska 1), woven into the greenery of the park. Over the first 70 artistic seasons it hosted 3,836 events, attended by more than 1.47 million listeners.

Seven decades of music

The orchestral pedigree is older than the building: the State Symphony Orchestra was founded in Białystok in 1954, but for years it had no seat of its own — rehearsals took place, among others, at the Aleksander Węgierko Drama Theatre. The musicians waited for a home of their own until the opening of the modern complex.

What is on the programme

The stages present opera and theatre productions and concerts — symphonic, jazz, rock and alternative. The Halfway Festival (its name means "halfway there") draws lovers of folk and singer-songwriter music. The institution cooperates with the countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltic states, and its programmes make room for the national-minority cultures of the region.

Tickets depend on the event — the programme and sales are handled by the institution's official website. The building lies in the centre, near the Białystok Puppet Theatre and the historic church of St. Mary Magdalene, so a concert evening combines easily with a stroll around town.
