Royal Garden of Light in Wilanów

In winter the Baroque residence of Jan III Sobieski changes its face: the Royal Garden of Light, an exhibition of illuminated installations set to music, spreads along the alleys of the Wilanów Palace. In 2017 it was named the Best Tourist Product of the Masovian Voivodeship. The route is about 1 kilometre long and leads through the former palace gardens.

What you will see on the route

The longest installation is the 75-metre tunnel of light along the main alley, playing classical music. Further on you pass the eastern garden with illuminated coats of arms of Jan III, glowing orange trees, a golden photo frame, the Light Carousel and a shining pergola by the Rose Garden. The walk culminates in a light and sound show at the fountain. At weekends the palace façade becomes a screen for mapping shows such as „Ad Solem" or „W Wilanowie król jest jeden" (One King in Wilanów), each lasting about 15 minutes.

Season and tickets

The garden operates in the autumn-winter season: the 2021/2022 edition ran from 9 October to 27 February, daily until 9 pm (from 5 pm in October, from 4 pm in the following months). In that edition tickets from Monday to Thursday cost PLN 20 (reduced PLN 5) and at weekends PLN 40 (reduced PLN 10); children under seven entered free of charge. Entry slots are booked online.

In practice

The entrance is at ul. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16 in Warsaw, with a free car park a few hundred metres away. The route is suitable for prams, although there are a few steps along the way. Weekday afternoons from 4 pm are the quietest — and the easiest time to photograph the tunnel without crowds.
