Lubomierz, Lower Silesian
On ul. 1 Maja, at the edge of old Lubomierz, a pink church with a small roof turret stands behind a stone wall with a gate. This is the cemetery church of St Anne from 1669, surrounded by one of the oldest surviving cemeteries in the area. The whole ensemble – church, cemetery, burial chapel, wall with gate and well – is a listed monument.
The cemetery was founded around 1628. St Anne's Church was built in 1669 and remodelled in the early 18th century and in 1833. It has three aisles under a barrel vault with lunettes. In 1825 a domed burial chapel was built in the cemetery, and in the first half of the 19th century the wall with its gate and the well.
The church is usually closed outside services, but you can see the cemetery and the building up close during the day. The cemetery is still in use, so you will see modern graves beside the historic ones – please be quiet and respectful. Allow 15–20 minutes. It is a good stop on the way from the market square and the Church of the Assumption – in Lubomierz everything is a few minutes' walk apart.
