St Annes Spa Chapel in Busko-Zdrój

St Anne’s Spa Chapel in Busko-Zdrój stands in the eastern part of the Spa Park, surrounded by gardens and resort buildings. This small neo-Gothic church is one of Busko’s most recognisable historic landmarks and fits naturally into a walk between the Marconi Sanatorium and the park’s main paths.

History and appearance

The chapel was built in 1884 through the efforts of Dr Aleksander Dobrzański and with support from local residents. It opened for use in 1888, while the entrance porch and sacristy were added in 1907. Its slender body, two smaller turrets and a central bell turret create a light neo-Gothic silhouette. From the beginning, the chapel was linked to the spa and the needs of its patients.

Inside the chapel

The main altar holds a painting of St Anne. The flat ceiling is decorated with painted scenes of the Rosary, while the walls display images of saints and blesseds. In 1984, a fragment of an early-16th-century Late Gothic altarpiece was moved here. Take time to notice how the small scale of the church works with its painted decoration.

The chapel remains a place of worship, so it should not be treated like a museum with guaranteed visiting hours.
