Lakes
The Pławniowice Reservoir lies between Pławniowice and Niewiesze in the Rudziniec municipality, near Gliwice and the A4 motorway. This artificial lake occupies a former sand-extraction site and now combines beaches, swimming, sailing, kayaking and quieter birdwatching. Choose a specific shore, because facilities are concentrated in a few locations.
The best-developed recreation area is on Plażowa Street in Niewiesze. GIS lists Słoneczna Beach with parking, toilets, changing rooms, a beach-volleyball court, barbecue areas, food service and equipment rental. In the 2026 season, the bathing area is scheduled for 13 June–30 August, 10:00–18:00; check the current water assessment before travelling.
Sailing clubs, rentals and holiday centres operate around the reservoir. Choose a sailing boat, kayak, board or a walk along the shore. Near Pławniowice, the palace is worth adding to the itinerary, while parts of the Niewiesze side also offer good conditions for birdwatching.
Reach Niewiesze from the A4 via the turn towards Plażowa Street; another approach leads from Pławniowice. In summer, beaches and car parks fill quickly, and the motorway is audible on the southern shore. If you plan to swim, check bathing rules and lifeguard hours; for a quieter visit, arrive early or choose a weekday.
