Glassworks in Rymanów

On Dworska Street in Rymanów operates a small art glass works "Sabina" — a family manufactory founded in 1996 by Henryk Rysz, a long-time employee of the Krosno glassworks. He designs most of the pieces himself; from the very beginning the workshop's ideal was artistic glass rather than mass production.

What is made here

In the furnaces of "Sabina", animal figurines, candlesticks, vases and bowls are born, and they end up in galleries around the world. Each item is shaped by hand at the glowing glass mass, so even similar forms differ in detail.

Glassmaking demonstrations

The manufactory welcomes tourists: for organised groups it arranges glassmaking demonstrations, where you can watch a craftsman draw a glowing bubble from the furnace and shape it. It is one of the few opportunities in the region to see a glassmaker's work up close — Krosno, the capital of Polish glass, lies only a dozen or so kilometres away, and the traditions of this craft in Podkarpacie go back decades.

Practical information

Arrange visits and demonstrations with the glassworks before travelling; current hours and availability may depend on production and group size. The site combines well with a trip around the area: within a few dozen kilometres there are the wooden Orthodox churches of Rzepedź, Szczawne and Komańcza and the Magura National Park.
