Brzesko lies on the road from Kraków to Tarnów and is best known for the Okocim brewery. Its owners, the Goetz-Okocimski family, left the town a neo-Baroque palace set in a park. In the centre, by the market square, stands St James's Church, where a 15th-century Gothic nave became the entrance hall of a new church. On ulica Czarnowiejska is a First World War cemetery with a stone gateway, and about 5 km from town lies Szczepanów – by tradition the birthplace of St Stanislaus, with a basilica that incorporates Jan Długosz's church. Brzesko is a good stop on a route through Lesser Poland.
