The Castle Brewery in Raciborz operates beside Piast Castle and is one of the city’s distinctive landmarks. It suits visitors who want to combine the history of a ducal residence with local brewing. Book a guided tour in advance.
Brewing at the Raciborz castle has medieval roots, while the ducal brewery is documented from 1567. The present brewery was built in the 19th century, after the castle fire of 1858, in its north-west wing. Historic spaces connected with storing beer survive in the cellars. The date 1567 on the façade refers to the first documented mention of the castle brewery, not to the construction date of the present building.
The brewery’s official website has a tour-booking page. Depending on the date, a tour may include the brewhouse, fermentation and underground lagering cellar, with a tasting on selected visits. Older information about fixed Saturday times may be out of date: dates, group limits and prices can change. Check the booking system before travelling. Follow the guide’s safety instructions.
The brewery is at 1 Zamkowa Street, in the castle complex in Ostróg by the Odra River. Combine it with Piast Castle, the Chapel of St Thomas Becket and Castle Park. If no tour slot is available, the complex is still worth seeing, but access to the production area is not the same as entry to the castle courtyard. Check current opening information and prices before you go.
