Żywiec Brewery

The Żywiec Brewery has operated since 1856, when it was founded by Archduke Albrecht Frederick of Habsburg. The museum occupies former lagering cellars and tells the story of beer, Żywiec and the Habsburgs. Its multisensory exhibition introduces brewing ingredients and can end with a tasting.

What to see

The exhibition follows the brewery and Żywiec brand from the 19th century to the present. The 2026 refurbishment added the Nature Room about brewing ingredients, the War Room and the Żywiec Męskie Granie Room. Historic cellars and multimedia create one coherent route.

Museum visit vs brewery tour

The museum visit takes about an hour, followed by time for a drink. An audio guide is available in Polish, English, German, Czech and Ukrainian. A tour of the working plant is separate: it requires advance booking, takes place in groups and depends on guide availability. A standard museum ticket does not automatically include it.

Practical tips

The museum at 88 Browarna Street is open Tue–Sun, 10:00–18:00; it is closed on Mondays and last entry is at 17:00. Book in advance through the form, by phone at +48 33 861 96 27 or by email at rezerwacja@muzeumbrowaru.pl. Check current prices before travelling. Under-18s may enter only with an adult; the plant route has additional age restrictions.

Tripto tip: if you are interested in technology, book both options separately. The museum explains beer history and culture, while the plant tour shows present-day production — they are different experiences.
