Bałtów Tourist Complex

The Bałtów Tourist Complex began in 2004 with a dinosaur trail, and according to its owner it now covers around 100 hectares in the Kamienna valley. There is a safari park toured in American school buses, a European bison enclosure, a miniature park shaped like a map of Poland, a playground and a rollercoaster – and in winter a ski slope. It makes a full day out with children, as long as you pick the right ticket.

History: a new attraction every year

After JuraPark opened on 7 August 2004, new zones were added in Bałtów year after year: the Bałtów safari park (Zwierzyniec Bałtowski), an amusement park, the Cinema 5D, a rollercoaster, the Prehistoric Oceanarium, the "Kraina Koni" riding centre, the "Sabatówka" witches' village and Poland in Miniature. For winter, the "Szwajcaria Bałtowska" ski station and a Santa Claus village were built. Since December 2017 the complex has belonged to the company DLF Invest.

What to see

• JuraPark – a trail with over 100 dinosaur models and the Jurassic Museum (see its separate page).
• Bałtów safari park – the Upper Zoo covers more than 60 ha of meadows, copses and ravines and is toured from an American school bus with a guide's commentary. Its residents include European bison, Bactrian camels, ostriches, emus, nilgai antelopes, yaks and Watusi cattle. The Lower Zoo is explored on foot: birds, capybaras, meerkats, alpacas and white fallow deer donated by President Bronisław Komorowski.
• Poland in Miniature – a park of about one hectare shaped like Poland, with rivers and lakes and 48 miniatures of castles and palaces, from Malbork to Wawel. Walk there, take the school bus or, in season, ride the chairlift up to a viewing terrace.
• Playground and rides – a rollercoaster (its run is 382 m long), bumper cars, Jungle Jump and the Źródlana Wyspa water zone with shallow spring-fed pools.
• Slavic Hill with Sabatówka – an area themed on old Slavic beliefs.

Interesting facts

The bison enclosure covers about 7 ha. The first three animals – Potworek from Ustroń and Pontia and Polejka from Pszczyna – arrived in spring 2011. All belong to the lowland (Białowieża) line, descended from just seven animals that survived in captivity after the First World War. Polish bison are given names beginning with "Po-", so the calves born in Bałtów include Pogo, Polesław and Poezja.

Tripto tip

Choosing the right package is the key. According to the price list on the complex's website, the Comprehensive Package (JuraPark, Adventure Planet, both zoo areas, Poland in Miniature, Slavic Hill, the playground, rollercoaster, 5D cinema, bumper cars, Źródlana Wyspa and Jungle Jump) costs PLN 155 at the gate, reduced PLN 143; online it is usually cheaper, and discounts apply in the last two hours before closing. Adults who only supervise children in the playground and don't use the rides enter that area free. Opening times change from day to day – in autumn 2026 the complex was usually open 10:00–17:00 and closed on 1 November.
