Thermal baths & water parks
Sopot, Pomeranian
The water in Sopot's aquapark does not come from the mains. Since 10 September 2016 it has been drawn from the park's own 116.4 m deep well, tapping an Oligocene aquifer, and in the pools it is around 32°C. Aquapark Sopot in the Kamienny Potok district, right by the local SKM train station, combines pools, several slides including the unusual Wild River, and an extensive sauna world – a good plan for a rainy or wintry day in the Tricity of Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia.
According to the operator, the pool area includes:
The best-known attraction is the Dzika Rzeka (Wild River), which the operator describes as the only one of its kind in Poland: a 71 m channel with a 6 m drop, through which water rushes at 600 litres per second. You ride the current like rafting; minimum height 160 cm, and it may close in bad weather. Turbo is a 70 m kamikaze tube with a 12 m drop, for riders from 140 cm.
The sauna area is unusually large: the Baltic sauna on the outdoor terrace, Nordic, Finnish and aroma saunas, a bio-sauna, steam bath, caldarium, laconium, Serail Bath and a brine graduation tower. Sauna sessions run on the hour according to a timetable, and on Tuesdays there are women-only sauna sessions. Spa treatments can be booked online.
Prices for November and the winter season had not yet been published. Check the "Cennik" (price list) tab on the aquapark's website for current rates.
The aquapark is at ul. Zamkowa Góra 5, on the main road between Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia. The easiest way is the SKM suburban train to Sopot Kamienny Potok station, a short walk away. The customer service line is open daily, from 10:00 at weekends.
One hour in the pool costs PLN 75 and three hours PLN 135, so with children the three-hour ticket is much better value. The Wild River starts an hour after the aquapark opens – if that is your main goal, don't arrive right at opening time. Bring your own towel and flip-flops, and come by SKM if you can: parking costs PLN 8 for every hour, which adds up quickly on a long visit.
