Afrykarium Wrocław

Afrykarium in Wrocław is Poland’s largest oceanarium and one of the main pavilions at Wrocław Zoo. The partly underground building presents African ecosystems from the Red Sea to the Congo Basin, with large tanks, an underwater tunnel and land-animal habitats. Afrykarium is included in the admission ticket to the entire zoo.

What to see

The route is organised around habitats inspired by the Red Sea, the Mozambique Channel, East Africa, the Skeleton Coast and the Congo. Residents include sharks and rays, Nile hippos, African fur seals, African penguins, manatees, Nile crocodiles and many species of fish and birds. The best-known feature is the underwater tunnel beside the Mozambique Channel tank, which brings visitors close to the animals.

Scale and highlights

Fifteen million litres of water circulate through the tanks, filters and kilometres of pipework — the equivalent of six Olympic swimming pools. The pavilion has three levels, one underground, and opened on 26 October 2014. It is part of the wider zoo rather than a separate oceanarium with its own entrance.

Tickets and planning your visit

The zoo address is 1–5 Wróblewskiego Street, Wrocław. Every Wrocław Zoo ticket includes Afrykarium. Prices are dynamic; check the official price list before buying. Opening hours vary; on 11 September 2026 the zoo listed 9:00–18:00 Monday to Thursday and 9:00–19:00 Friday to Sunday and on holidays. Ticket desks close earlier, so check the official notice before travelling. Allow most of a day for the zoo with Afrykarium. The route is accessible to wheelchair users.
