Cycling routes around Limanowa

From Limanowa, a county town in the heart of the Island Beskids (Beskid Wyspowy), ten cycling routes described by the town set off, plus three shorter rides in the Gorce Mountains. The loops range from 16 to 59 km and mostly follow paved roads through villages with wooden churches, First World War cemeteries and passes with wide panoramas. They suit leisure cyclists who want a taste of the mountains without steep singletrack.

The closest loops around town

• Route 1 – approx. 25 km, approx. 300 m of climbing: Limanowa – Jabłoniec (624 m) – Stara Wieś-Majeż – Golców (756 m) – Księży Las (Opalona) – Pożary – Leśniówka-Lipowe (570 m) – Limanowa. Mostly paved village roads, with two war cemeteries and many viewpoints along the way.
• Route 2 – approx. 34 km, approx. 250 m: via Raszówki, Przyszowa, Świdnik, Łukowica, Roztoka and Siekierczyna. Historic churches in Świdnik and Łukowica, views from Raszówki and Siekierczyna.
• Route 3 – approx. 34 km, approx. 400 m: via Młynczyska and Jastrzębie on gravel roads, with a panorama from the Ostra–Cichoń pass.
• Route 4 – 25 km, approx. 400 m: Limanowa – Stara Wieś – Zalesie – Kamienica – Szczawa, with the historic sights of Kamienica and the mineral springs of Szczawa.

Longer and easier rides

Route 5 (27 km, approx. 365 m) runs via Sowliny and Słopnice, with a forest section over the Słopnice Pass. Route 6 (59 km) is the easiest long loop – only about 100 m of climbing – passing the historic sights of Jodłownik, Szczyrzyc, Skrzydlna and Dobra. Route 8 (16 km) leads to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation in Pasierbiec, and Route 9 (56 km, fully paved) to Lake Rożnów, where you can swim in summer.

The Gorce by bike

Three additional routes run near Gorce National Park. "Dzika" (Wild) follows a forestry road from the Potaśnia forester's lodge across the Satanowa and Gąsiorowska glades to Koninki (about 2 hours of riding). "Promenada" leads from Koninki to Poręba Górna, and "Koło Orkanówki" is a 3.5 km ride from Niedźwiedź to the Władysław Orkan museum.

At the end of 2025 Limanowa had 14,132 inhabitants. To warm up, ride along the "Bulwary" promenade, designated among other things for cycling. The best views around town are from Miejska Góra with its steel cross. Routes 2 and 3 share a section through Łukowica, Roztoka and Siekierczyna, so they are easy to combine. Take a map or GPS – the descriptions give the course, but on the ground the loops cross in several places.
