The Fairy-Tale Trail of Łódź (Bajkowa Łódź)

Following the traces of Łódź animation — the city produced more than 1,400 animated films, many of them at the Se-ma-for studio — runs a family trail of bronze figures known from the screen. Teddy Floppy-Ear (Miś Uszatek), the cats Filemon and Bonifacy, and Peter with the Magic Pencil stand along streets and in parks, ready for photos all year round.

The characters on the trail

The start is traditionally at Miś Uszatek at 87 Piotrkowska Street, unveiled in 2009, marking the entrance to the Tourist Information Centre. Then on: Maurycy and Hawranek on Konstantynowska Street in front of the zoo (2014), Pingwinek Pik-Pok by the aquapark on Unii Lubelskiej Avenue (2010), Filemon and Bonifacy in front of the Museum of Cinematography on Zwycięstwa Square (2011), Peter and his dog from the Magic Pencil on Traugutta Street (2011), the Three Bears at 282 Piotrkowska (2012), Plastuś in the Sienkiewicz Park (2014) and Wróbelek Ćwirek by the Palm House on Piłsudskiego Street (2014).

The PTTK badge and the city game

By collecting at least seven stamps from the trail's points you can earn the PTTK tourist badge "Łódź Bajkowa". The characters also appear on the local collector's coin "Łódka", and since 2025 the figures have been included in the "Małe Legendy" app, which links similar city games across Polish towns.

Practicalities

The whole route lies in the centre of Łódź — between Piotrkowska Street, the Sienkiewicz Park, the Palm House and the Museum of Cinematography — and is accessible around the clock, all year. The walk can be combined with a visit to Piotrkowska Street, Manufaktura or the Museum of Cinematography, where the story of Łódź animation comes back to the big screen.
