Aleja Gwiazd w Łodzi

Łódź’s Walk of Fame, formally the Avenue of Stars of Łódź’s Road of Fame, is an open-air gallery of Polish cinema set into Piotrkowska Street. Its bronze stars honour film actors, directors, cinematographers and composers. The first star, unveiled on 28 May 1998, went to Andrzej Seweryn. The idea is associated with Jan Machulski, while Andrzej Pągowski created the graphic design.

Where to find it

The main stretch runs along Piotrkowska between 6 Sierpnia and Traugutta streets, with additional stars in Rubinstein Passage. The project is expanding towards Narutowicza and Zielona, so the current list may change. This is part of the city pavement, best experienced during a walk along Piotrkowska.

How the layout works

The eastern, even-numbered side generally features directors, cinematographers and film-music creators, while the western, odd-numbered side honours actors. Names include Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Agnieszka Holland, Daniel Olbrychski, Beata Tyszkiewicz and Pola Negri. There is also one shared star for the four Warner brothers and stars connected with Łódź Film School and the film “Ida”. New stars are selected by a chapter of Łódź artists and cultural figures.

Practical information

According to information published on 8 September 2026, the avenue has 113 stars; the latest honours went to production and costume designer Ewa Braun. The pavement is free to visit at any time, with no separate entrance or opening hours. Choose names in advance; morning is best for photographs before Piotrkowska becomes busy.
