The Unique Roundabout in Krynki

Krynki in the Podlasie region have a layout in their centre that you will not find in any other Polish small town: a roundabout occupying Jagiełło Square, from which 12 streets radiate. A larger circular junction can only be found in Paris, which makes the one in Krynki one of the largest in Poland and in the world.

A historic layout from the 18th century

The roundabout serves as Krynki's market square and is a historic spatial layout dating from the 18th century. In its central part grows a park that offers relief on hot days. The streets radiate from the square like rays and lead to almost all the monuments of this former multicultural town.

What to see along the rays of the roundabout

From Garbarska Street you will reach the Great Synagogue, and on a side arm of Czysta Street — the Hasidic Synagogue. Cerkiewna Street leads to the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Kościelna Street to St Anne's Church, and near Legionowa Street, on Polna Street, lies the Jewish cemetery. On Piłsudskiego Street stands the Caucasian Synagogue.

Practical information

The roundabout is accessible all year round, 24 hours a day, free of charge. Krynki lies in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, and it is worth driving to Kruszyniany, about 10 km away, with its mosque and mizar (Muslim cemetery).
