Beach in Kołobrzeg

Kołobrzeg, at the mouth of the Parsęta, is the largest resort of Western Pomerania and a town with the status of a health resort: respiratory, circulatory and joint ailments are treated here using local brines and therapeutic mud. More than 43 thousand people live here (2024), and the population multiplies every summer. The town was granted its charter in 1255.

The beach and the Seaside Boulevard

The beach is not among the widest, but after the revitalisation carried out in 2010–2012 it is clean and well kept, with the golden sand typical of the Baltic. Along it runs a promenade — Aleja Nadmorska — where you meet live gulls and their sculpted likenesses: the Mewy Mariana figures that decorate the whole town. The largest crowds gather by the pier and the central entrances; more intimate stretches wait on the outskirts of town.

What to see by the beach

The pier is 220 metres long and chargeable in season. Next to it stands a lighthouse open to visitors, and the harbour with its marina is the starting point for cruise boats. By Aleja Nadmorska, since 1963, stands the Monument of Poland's Marriage to the Sea, commemorating the ceremony of 18 March 1945, when soldier Franciszek Niewidziajło symbolically dipped a banner in the waves.

Practical

The beach lies by Bulwar Jana Szymańskiego (Mickiewicza street), a few minutes from the lighthouse and the fortifications of the former fortress.
